Skin Examinations

Do You Know the Skin You’re In?

Do you have DRY, SCALY, ITCHY, REDDENED SPOTS?  Have you been “meaning to” have things on your skin checked?  Now is the time!

Bridgetown Medical are thrilled to have secured the services of a highly skilled & experienced Registered Nurse with 30+ years of rural and remote nursing experience.  Sheena Christensen has trained in Skin Cancer Medicine including a Graduate Certificate in Medicine: Skin Cancer at the University of Queensland (UQ) and Professional Diploma in Dermatology with Healthcert (UQ).

Sheena provides an individualised risk assessment, and a 30-minute full body skin examination using a dermatoscope – a small hand held tool with polarised light and magnification – to assess lesions on your skin for clues to identification of melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and many benign skin lesions.  During the assessment you will receive a thorough education on self-skin examination and how to identify a suspect lesion.

So… WHAT’S YOUR RISK?

  1. Fair skin – burns or freckles easily? Blue/green eyes? Blonde/red hair?
  2. Exposure to sun – work, sport, gardening?
  3. Multiple moles or unusual moles?
  4. History of blistering or peeling sunburn any time in your life, including as a child?
  5. Personal or family history of melanoma, basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma?
  6. Aged over 40 years?
  7. Live/d in Australia, NZ or Africa?

If you answered YES to any of these risk factors, you should be having regular skin checks.

Book in today at Bridgetown Medical (9761 1222) for a 30-min full body skin examination by our skin nurse.
